KEWI Chiakariga Campus, a constituent campus of the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI), is located in Chiakariga location, Tharaka South District. Among its objectives is to provide training programmes, seminars and workshops and produce publications aimed at maintaining standards in the water and sanitation sectors.

The college which was officially opened in 2010 by former president H.E. Hon, Mwai kibaki C.G.H., M.P. is mainly geared towards providing sustainable water solutions in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALS) through training and applied research. Further, the campus target courses related to Arid and Semi Arid Lands (ASALs) such as Drainage and Irrigation, Water Technology and Resource Management, etc

KEWI Chiakariga Campus occupies 17.5 Acres of land. Initially, it was a base for Kenya-Sweden Water and Sanitation Programme and MOWR/SIDA-Tharaka Water and Sanitation. The facility was handed over to KEWI in 2002 and opened its doors to students in September 2009.

The campus has lately registered great improvements, all geared towards making it more responsive to the emerging needs of the growing students population. The upcoming Irrigation Block is set to reinvigorate how services are offered at the campus. With the increasing interest by development partners to fund projects within the campus, Chiakariga Campus is destined to a bright future. I therefore take this opportunity to welcome you all to this campus and experience the completeness that comes with it.
